The Urban Redevelopment Authority publishes the Master Plan 2025 Rail Line and Rail Station layers as open data. The geometry is precise, but the layer does not record which line each of the 1,397 track segments belongs to. This site adds that identity layer, and with it line colours, station codes, station search, and a view of what changed between releases.
The identity layer was built manually in QGIS on the Master Plan 2019 Rail Line layer: each track segment was inspected, assigned to its line, and coloured. That tagged 2019 layer remains the source of truth for this site.
When the Master Plan 2025 layer was released, the 2019 tagging was carried forward onto the new geometry rather than redone, in tiers:
Alignments new in the 2025 release, such as Cross Island Line Phase 2, the CRL Punggol branch, the Changi T5 extensions, the Downtown Line extension and the North-South Line realignment at Sungei Kadut, were identified through track connectivity and corridor analysis against the official station layer. Each segment on the map records how it was matched; selecting a segment shows its provenance.
The intent is practical: once line identity exists alongside the published geometry, the same layers can be styled, queried and compared across releases by anyone who works with them, and the differences between Master Plan versions can be read directly from the data. The matching approach is not specific to this layer and can be applied to other versioned geospatial datasets.
A static Leaflet site with a canvas renderer, drawing about 0.9 MB of optimised GeoJSON simplified from the 24 MB source at sub-metre tolerance. Station codes and status are compiled from public sources. Basemap tiles are by CARTO on OpenStreetMap data. Where the live views are enabled, platform crowd levels, service alerts and monthly tap volumes come from LTA DataMall through a same-origin proxy; the API key is held server-side, and responses are validated and cached. The weather layers (rain radar, rainfall, air temperature, humidity, WBGT) come from NEA's real-time APIs on data.gov.sg, which require no key.
